Sheer Madness

So, as we speak I’m traveling to Rhode Island via bus to see a friend I haven’t seen (unless you count Facebook) in almost ten years….it amazes me how social media has allowed our culture to reconnect with people that way.  Yes, it’s true….tweets, posts, and texts aren’t giving you a blow by blow of what’s going on in everyone’s life on a deep personal level….but it puts people on your mind that you might have otherwise forgotten due to time passing.

I’m grateful for the reconnect….but wanted to share a quick OOTD with you.  Since it’s been sooooo hot lately, I thought I’d give this sheer navy houndstooth top and pencil skirt a try.  I got both thrifting…and it cost me less than $1.50.

Take a moment to reach to an old friend today you may have just simply lost touch with….you’ll be glad you did.

Snake Skin Print and a Bit of Edge

Hey guys, so over the past several months I’ve been eyeing some animal print skinny jeans from both Gap and Current/Elliott.  Only I couldn’t justify to myself why I needed to spend well over a $100 bucks for a pair of jeans that are too distinctive to be a staple pair I could get away with wearing a couple times a week.

You see…overall I strongly believe in investing in quality pieces to extend the life of your wardrobe.  But every now again it’s worth checking out more affordable retailers that may be in your neighborhood, like Rainbow or Dr. Jay’s (where I got theses jeans)….to try out some trendy or more disposable items, for less.  That’s why I jumped at the chance to try these snake skin print skinny jeans when I found them the other day (a pair of neon yellow ballet flats in the window originally drew me into the store)….that way if you get something and you don’t like it, it’s not the end of the world. So, while I didn’t wind up getting those flats…I do think these $15 snake skin print skinny jeans are a great alternative to the costly designer animal print ones I passed up 🙂

What’s a trend you want to try, but don’t want to invest the money on?

Rusty Nails

Hey guys!!! The skies have been a little gray this past week….but what better way to lift your mood, than to wear a pop of color?  I loved this dress when I found it thrifting and mentioned it in a previous thrift haul video post.  I also got this straw clutch on the same haul and immediately thought they were a perfect match.

I went to the dollar store a week or so ago and got a little carried away with nail polishes….afterall, they were only a $1.  In addition to this yellow (which is called Neon Yellow) I also got what I would really call a Neon Yellow that I can’t wait to show you, which was my color pick of the Month for April.

The necklace I found on the street with a match of pairing earrings.  While I never wear them both together…..I thought the colors were perfect for the sunflower and rust combo!  The dress was .55 cents, and the same goes for the clutch that  I couldn’t wait to break out and get a jump on summer.  What are some of the things in your wardrobe you can’t wait to wear???
