I must say I got a little carried away when picking out accessories for this post. But can you blame me? Statements rings have been the trend in recent years with everyone from your local fashionista to celebrities alike. Now is the time to flex your inner creativity, and here are a few things to remember when picking that special item out:
Get Something that Speaks to You (and Who You Are):
You have to love it….so go with something that resonates with your personal style and that really speaks to who you are. Undoubtedly a piece of jewelry this large is going to stand out (especially if you talk with your hands as much as I do), so make sure this eye-catching piece compliments your personal style. So if you’d say your style is more casual chic, I think it’s safe to say you wouldn’t get the oxidized skull and cross bones (unless you want to channel your inner Rihanna that day).
Keep It Simple:
You want to balance out your accessories overall. When wearing a statement ring, limit the jewelry on that hand to just that one piece. No watch, no bangles. Just that ring on that one hand, and if you just can’t leave the house without the watch or a bracelet, opt for the other arm. Yes, you want to stand out, but you don’t want your jewelry all competing against each other, so optimally wear the statement ring and simple layered necklace or either that plus one bold necklace OR bold earrings, but not all 3 at once.
Make Sure it Fits:
I have really small fingers (like a 4), so I understand the constant plight in making sure rings fit. But there’s nothing worse than to have your piece that you are so proud of constantly twirled to the underside of your hand. You got it…now show it off!
Other than that….have fun with it and flaunt your accessory freedom. I’m sure you’ll have no problem getting creative, but just in case, I’ve included some fabulous ideas below to give you a head start on your statement piece collection. So enjoy!
